Message Owning a Z and not being taken for a ride by a mechanic requires some intuition. Use the search function as a resource as much as possible. Manual transmissions don't tend to leak, and they never leak from the front of the bellhousing unless there's a MAJOR issue.

Everything about a vehicle has to obey physics. That means, gravity pulls fluids down and the force of the vehicle moving forward pushes the fluid back. So it's standard for an oil leak to drench your transmission bellhousing.

The main thing you need to address is this: you paid a mechanic to fix a problem he did not fix. Excuses are not acceptable, with a business transaction if you end up in a worse situation than you started then something isn't right.

As far as getting it fixed, listen to aliaZ, because he's probably right. The average z owner on this forum can tell you about the rear main seal and retainer leak issues; it seems like your "Z mechanic" should know all about it, too.
